CONTRACT JOB POSTING Position: Project Manager/Coordinator, Northern Kwakwaka’wakw Sexual Violence Response

Network Reports to: Northern Kwakwaka’wakw Health Directors Start Date: As soon as possible Duration: 12 – 16 month term Location: Some possibility for remote work and/or the Network Coordinator will work a combination of in-person and remote shifts, depending on program needs. Wage: To be determined, based on education and experience.

Background
The Northern Kwakwaka’wakw Sexual Violence Response Network (the “Network”) will look to create a network of support for, but not limited to the following: ensuring Network is inclusive of its North Island Kwakwaka’wakw Nations and urban and away from home populations; responding to sexual violence in a holistic, safe, and meaningful way; supporting survivors of historical sexual violence, including those of new sexual violence; providing supports/healing for those who have harmed previously / currently / recently; building support/response networks for occurrences of sexual violence in the future; ensuring appropriate connections in to existing programs and services, including Kackaamin’s new Rebuilding the Circle program and other possible provincial agencies / health authority(s) / Indigenous organizations; and other appropriate modalities / training / early education to ensure the success and healing of its community members and the Network. This Network will focus on engagement with Northern Kwakwaka’wakw Nations regarding community needs; being inclusive of its urban and away from home populations and agencies, and understanding what services are currently available in the North to address those needs, and what new services, supports, or linkages may be required to ensure adequate response and support of community members.
This project will be led by the Northern Kwakwaka’wakw communities (Kwakiutl, Quatsino, Gwa'sala-'Nakwaxda'xw, Dzawada̱ʼenux̱w First Nations, Namgis First Nation, Kwikwasut’inuxw Haxwa’mis First Nation), with oversight provided by the Kwakiutl First Nation.
The project manager/coordinator will identify priorities through engagement with the Nations and provide updates to the Kwakwaka’wakw Health Directors table throughout the course of the project. This role involves collaboration with Indigenous community partners and provincial and regional health and social service organizations to facilitate engagement and implement community-led responses to responding to sexualized violence. The project and Network aim to center Indigenous women, youth, 2Spirit people, their communities, and urban and away from home population, through the creation and enhancement of accessible, context-specific, culturally-relevant approaches to prevention and healing.
