Social Development Training and Practical Work Experience Opportunity
- 2 Social Worker Internships for persons in university/college
- 20 weeks at 35 hours per week funded in partnership by NVIATS and Social Development
OBJECTIVES:
The purpose of this agreement is to provide training and practical work experience for two (2) Aboriginal participants in the social work field.
SUB OBJECTIVES:
On completion of the agreement, the participants will have sufficient training and work experience at a standard of safety and competence that meets accepted industry standards, which will assist with preparing the participant for a position in the social work field. The internship also satisfies the College/University requirements for internships, negotiations maybe required by students and institutions.
TRAINING ACTIVITIES:
- Researching kinship, care and reunification homes and policy
- Researching immediate needs/prevention methods other Nations are successfully
- Engagement of members, Matriarchs and Hereditary Chiefs and Cultural
- Research unique care needs and supports available for children with FASD, ADHD and
WORK EXPERIENCE:
The participants’ work experience activities will be gained through daily assignments and activities as assigned by the Social Development Manager, Lavina Hunt.
SPECIAL CONDITIONS:
The employer will provide the training, safety standards and supervision required to enable participants to meet the above noted objectives.
The employer agrees to obtain a Workers Compensation Board or equivalent insurance for all project participants,
including the project manager.
Valid driver’s license and driver’s abstract
