    Job Title: Communications Lead - Internal Job Posting - Part Time
    
    

    JOB SUMMARY

    Under the supervision of the Kwakiutl Health Director, the Communications Lead will be responsible for communications to community regarding programming, services, health education, and community consultations for projects. The role will involve daily posting and monitoring of the Kwakiutl Health Department’s social media channels, outreach regarding community gatherings and consultations, and updating of the Health Department’s website. The Communications Lead will also serve to support programs when/where appropriate and backfill for the Front Desk coverage and Patient Travel Clerk.

     

    This is a part-time position dependant on funding. The Kwakiutl Band Council (KBC) reserves the exclusive and unilateral right to amend this job description at any time, for any purpose.  Such amendments may include (but are not limited to) reduced hours, material changes in job duties, or immediate elimination of this job altogether.

     

     

    DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES

     

    • Support Kwakiutl Health Centre programs with communications to community via social media, newsletters, phone, and text.
    • Support Kwakiutl Health Centre programs with supports staff with program delivery necessary (preparation, set up, and set down, etc.)
    • Supports and helps to organize community engagements, including surveys and other
    • Supports strategic planning process and documentation of Kwakiutl Health Plan goals
    • Updates Health Dept webpage as needed
    • Employs a teamwork approach in working with staff and the community
    • Maintains confidentiality in all dealings with clients
    • Refers for follow-up support
    • Maintains electronic records as required
    • Submits monthly activity reports to Supervisor and/or Health Director and other reports as required
    • Provides back-up for front desk when Front Desk Manager is away
    • Provides back-up for Patient Travel Clerk
    • Performs other duties as required to assist in implementation of the Health Work Plan and/or to provide backfill coverage when directed
      • Adheres to all Kwakiutl Band Council policies, Personnel Policy, procedures and protocols

       

       

      REQUIREMENTS

       

      • Knowledge of available Health programs, their interrelationships, and their functions in delivering care in the community
      • Cultural competence and First Nations experience are essential
      • Submit a vulnerable criminal record check
      • Excellent communication skills
      • Deal with others effectively
      • Demonstrate sound organizational, problem-solving skills
      • Demonstrate sound judgment, good observation, tact and empathy
      • Work independently, demonstrating initiative, with limited supervision

      • Foster good public relations and act diplomatically on behalf of the Health Centre
      • Operate related equipment, including a thorough knowledge of Microsoft Office (i.e., Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel) and social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram etc)

       

      Key relationships

       

      • Maintains good relations with the Kwakiutl Health centre staff and Kwakiutl membership and community.
      • Handles staff members and community members inquiries and requests in an expedient, culturally respectful manner

        • Assisting in the articulation and establishment of cultural influence expectations in the Kwakiutl Health Centre planning and day-to-day operations
        • Must successfully and periodically undergo (every year or as needed) an appropriate vulnerable criminal records review and police record check.
