    ORGANIZATION SUMMARY:

The First Nations Health Authority (FNHA) and its employees are committed to a proactive and holistic approach to health and wellness, and to the delivery of services which are sustainable and honour the customs and traditions of First Nations communities.

The First Nations Regional Health Survey (RHS) is the only First Nations – governed, national health survey in Canada. It collects information about on-reserve and northern First Nations communities based on both Western and traditional understandings of health and well-being. This survey will be conducted primarily online and by telephone. Now in it’s fourth phase, results from the RHS have been used to support policy, funding, decision making and programming at the community, regional, provincial and national level. Rooted in traditional and western understandings of health and well-being, the RHS gathers information from First Nations people living on reserve and in Norhtern First Nations communities in a culturally safe and accesssible way.

    POSITION SUMMARY:

Community Navigators assist with the data collection for the Regional Health Survey. Their role is to be the “in-person” connection between the FNHA staff and survey participants in the community. Community Navigators will share information with the survey team about community protocols and circumstances that arise, such as weather events or deaths in the community and will assist in the data collection in the way that best suits the data collection methods selected and the community’s gift card preferences.
